In 2006, Gough became the first legally blind person to write, produce, edit, direct AND star in a feature film.
His creation, I Will Not Go Quietly, is a documentary of his life and takes a real and honest look at the highs and lows of living with a vision impairment and the hurdles he has had to overcome to bring his dream of working in the film industry to life.
Gough lost his sight at 12 weeks of age following a hemorrhagic stroke and despite encountering countless setbacks in his pursuit to find work due to his disability, he has persevered, creating Beernuts Productions.
As the managing director of his own company, Gough and his team have created 17 films that take a light-hearted look at some of Australia’s most controversial topics.
While speaking to The Phoenix Phenomenon, Gough shares his journey and encourages people from all walks of life to look past disability and truly get to know the capabilities of anyone who comes to them looking for opportunities.
